Sewing For Beginners



Joyce Castro is an experienced sewing instructor, this class will meet weekly. Students will make a simple apron and then enjoy projects of their own choosing with Joyce as their guide throughout! Students must understand their sewing machines.

Joyce Castro was born and raised in Galesburg, Illinois. At the age of 18, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she pursued a career in retail.

She started hand sewing at the age of 10 years old. She learned to sew on a treadle machine in 4-H and advanced her sewing skills well into high school.

After moving to California and working full time, She sewed intermittently till she retired from retail 45 years later. Shortly after that, she joined ASG and continued sewing many projects. Today she teaches sewing and quilting at Tulare Community Church once a week. Additionally, she likse to sew for many charities.

Sewing has been her lifetime passion, as well as teaching the art.
